Laurie M. Kerner - Family Mediator
Since we may be working closely together, I think it is only fair that you know a little about me. I am a Certified Family Mediator through the Supreme Court of Florida. I am also a Certified Public Accountant regulated by the State of Florida. I must follow the standards and ethics of both Boards.
Earlier in my career I practiced as a forensic accountant providing financial assistance to attorneys and their clients wishing to obtain a divorce. I testified in court as an expert witness during the hearings and the trial. The adversarial process did not agree with my desires of how to spend my days during my career. I saw the destruction this process could have on the divorcing couple and their families. I learned that with some coursework and training that I could become a Certified Family Mediator. I have been practicing in this capacity for more than ten years.
I have been working with couples that want to employ a more civil, agreeable and cost-savings approach to ending their marital relationship. I find that clients that choose Mediation are more like myself. They are independent, knowledgeable, capable and desire to be fair and respectful of one another. They would rather make their own decisions mutually about their futures rather than letting the Judge make those decisions for them. When children are involved they do everything they can to put their differences aside in the best interest of the children. They work through the anger, hurt, and loss instead of feeding it.
At the end of the day I feel good about what I do for a living. At the end of the Divorce my clients feel good about how they have behaved too.
Joan E. Fradella- Family Mediator
I am a Certified Family Mediator through the Supreme Court of Florida. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Hofstra University and my Master’s Degree in Statistical Analysis at C W Post.
My work experience has included working with Family Law Attorneys in helping them and their clients with the financial aspects that occur as a result of a divorce. I have found that when a married couple has made the decision to terminate their marital relationship, it is often more beneficial to reach a resolution amicably whenever possible.
Mediation allows the parties in a divorce to come to their own decisions about how they want their family issues and finances to be structured in the future. As a Family Mediator, I facilitate these discussions.
I find it to be personally fulfilling that my education and experience has led me to Family Mediation.
